The world’s fastest drone has been created: What the Huntress II jet multicopter can do

The UAV is built around a turbojet engine that provides the ability to reach speeds of up to 483 km/h.

WaveAerospace (USA) recently introduced a new drone model, Huntress II. Developers have called it the world’s fastest, and for good reason, as the drone is equipped with a jet turbine, NewAtlas reported.

In fact, the jet turbine is the basis of the device, and all other elements only complement it. The company says the drone can hover and land on any surface, with conventional engines first lifting it and then driving the turbine.

Engineers revealed some features of the drone, but did not share videos of their tests. Huntress II multicopter, if we measure its dimensions according to the length of the outriggers, it is 4 m, its weight including fuel is 50 kg, and its take-off weight is 165 kg. There are special containers for cargo. The UAV can be launched from the ground within 1.5 minutes and can also be dropped from an aircraft at an altitude of 6 km.

Flight duration is 2 hours and remote control is possible from a maximum distance of 30 km. The Huntress II jet drone is cheap to operate: one flight is 95% cheaper than a helicopter flight.

The drone can maneuver because its turbojet engine can temporarily stop working during flight. If the turbine operates non-stop, the drone will reach a speed of 483 km/h. And engineers assure that this is not the limit, because… they plan to increase the flight speed of future models. Another advantage of Huntress II is that it is not afraid of harsh weather conditions: it will complete its mission in a wind speed of 117 km/h and a temperature range of -34°C to 54°C.
