Volvo, XC40 and C40 Recharge name change February 20, 2024 0

Part of Volvo’s plan to become an all-electric brand also includes name change for XC40 Recharge and C40 Recharge models.

The term “Recharge” is disappearing, and the XC40 and C40 are simply becoming EX40 and EC40. Thus, the automaker is combining the two models with the choice to use the letter “E” to designate its BEV vehicles. Thus the EX40 and EC40 join the range. new EX30 and EX90.

Volvo has also decided to remove the term “Recharge” from the hybrid models, which will simply be referred to as T6 or T8, denoting different power levels.

The name change was made, the automaker explains, also to make it even easier for new and existing customers to understand which models are fully electric and which are hybrid.

Volvo also announced further innovations for its electric range, including Performance package for EX40 and EC40 twin engines. This is a software update that can be requested as an option via the Volvo app when ordering a new car.
