Alpine A290, a small electric sports car, will debut on June 13 April 2, 2024 6

Renault 5 debuted at the end of February. Soon it will be our turn new Alpine A290a small sports car, already anticipated by the concept car and based on the Renault 5. The presentation day is scheduled for June 13.a date that is not a coincidence, given that the presentation will take place during the 24 Hours of Le Mans, where the car manufacturer will compete with the Alpine A424.

WHAT DO WE KNOW?

We already know a thing or two about the electric sports car’s shape, given that it has been the subject of some spy photos. Even if the car will always look camouflaged, the production model won’t look too different from the concept. Compared to the Renault 5 on which it is based, the new Alpine A290 will have a special body kit that will make the appearance more aggressive. In particular, the front end looks much more sophisticated, and there is a small spoiler at the end of the roof.

Dimensions Length 3990 mm, width 1820 mm, height 1520 mm, wheelbase 2530 mm. According to what Alpine has stated previously, thanks to collaboration with Michelin Special tires have been developed for this model. We have the Michelin Pilot Alpin 5 for winter conditions, the Pilot Sport EV for increased efficiency and the Pilot Sport S5 for sportier performance.

As for the passenger compartment, we will find a much more traditional solution compared to a particularly extreme version of the concept offering 3 seats. Past spy photos have highlighted the presence of cloth and leather sports seats and a flat-bottom steering wheel.

On the mechanical side, a unit with around 160kW of power should have been chosen, borrowed from the Megane E-Tech 220. At a later stage, it looks like there should be an even more powerful powertrain with an output of around 200kW. We’ll know a lot more when the small electric sports car officially debuts.
