Cupra expanded the Formentor range by introducing new engines which will be available in combination with VZ and VZ Extreme Installations. At the end of April 2024, the SUV of the Spanish automaker received a restyling. The update, which presents a number of design improvements and new engines, including plug-in versions with an electric range of 100 km.
At the time of its debut on the Italian market, the new Formentor was only available with a 1.5 hybrid engine with 150 hp and a DSG gearbox. Now Cupra has expanded its SUV range Engines 1.5 e-HYBRID 272 hp DSG and 2.0 TSI 333 hp 4Drive DSG.
let’s start from the plug-in, consists of an electric motor with a power of 85 kW (116 hp) and a 1.5 liter gasoline engine capable of developing a power of 130 kW (177 hp). Thus, the system is capable of with a power of 200 kW (272 hp) power and 400 Nm of torque. The electric motor is driven 19.7 kWh battery which ensures electrical autonomy up to 119 km on the WLTP cycle.
The battery can be recharged with alternating current up to 11 kW, as well as direct current up to 50 kW (10-80% 26 minutes). This is the same unit that recently appeared on the new Cupra Leon. The gearbox is a 6-speed automatic. Maximum speed 220 km/h. and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.2 seconds.
Next up we have the 2.0 TSI engine producing 333 PS (245 hp). It is mated to a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission and is equipped with 4Drive all-wheel drive. It features torque divider technology, previously only available on the Formentor VZ5. This technology allows torque to be distributed asymmetrically to each wheel on the rear axle, giving the new CUPRA Formentor VZ a more dynamic ride. Maximum speed 250 km/h. and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.8 seconds.
There are two versions: VZ and VZ Extreme. The main standard equipment includes: The VZ version is equipped with 19-inch SANDSTORM silver alloy wheels, Dynamic Ride Control (DCC), Diamica front bucket seats, Smart Wraparound ambient lighting, Keyless Advanced, rear camera, hands-free electric tailgate and anti-theft system.
As for the standard equipment of the VZ Extreme version, in addition to the equipment of the previous version, we find CUP front bucket seats, a navigation system, Matrix LED headlights, Immersive by Sennheiser, the Safe & Driving XL package, Brembo brake calipers (for the 1.5 e-HYBRID version with 272 hp), Akebono brake calipers (for the 2.0 TSI version with 333 hp) and a crash prevention system (front and rear).
At the same time, two new designs are introduced for the 19-inch alloy wheels of the VZ and VZ Extreme versions: HAILSTORM Silver and HAILSTORM Copper, as well as new body colours such as Glacial White metallic and Enceladus Grey and Magnetic Tech matte.
