According to Rustem Umerov, an agreement was reached with the partner country for the first tranche of 10 million euros for the production of Ukraine’s long-range weapons.
Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov signed a memorandum of understanding with Lithuanian Defense Minister Laurynas Kasciunas, which allows Lithuania to finance the production of Ukraine’s long-range weapons, especially Palyanitsa jet drones. Rustem Umerov stated this on his Facebook page.
The memorandum of understanding reportedly opens up new opportunities for Lithuania to invest in Ukraine’s military-industrial complex and also contributes to the expansion of the strategic partnership between Kiev and Vilnius.
According to Rustem Umerov, this is a long-term agreement, for which the first tranche in the amount of 10 million euros has already been agreed. Lithuania uses these funds for the production of Ukraine’s long-range weapons, including Palyanitsya drones.
The head of the Ministry of Defense emphasized that Vilnius is currently working to finalize bureaucratic procedures. The first tranche is expected to be awarded in the near future.
“I thanked the Republic of Lithuania for the continuous assistance Ukraine received during this difficult period and personally thanked Mr. Kasciunas for his leadership as Minister of Defense,” Rustem Umerov wrote.
Let us remind you that, according to Ukrainian Minister of Digital Transformation Mikhail Fedorov, the cost of one Ukrainian Palyanitsya drone is less than 1 million dollars.
In turn, Roman Romanyuk, a journalist for the Ukrayinska Pravda publication, had previously reported that the Palyanitsya drone was used in one of the attacks in occupied Crimea in August 2024.
