The most reliable and least reliable cars? Here is the rating according to TUV November 30, 2024 0

Like every year, TUVGerman certification company, published report ranking the most reliable cars and obviously also with less reliable cars. New “TUV 2025 reportThis way we can learn more about how cars behave over time.

The rating is actually not unique. but it is divided into age groupsa very interesting choice to evaluate the trend of model problems over time. In Germany, as we know, car inspections are taken very seriously, they are very thorough and selective. To prepare this study, TUV used i results of periodic reviews carried out between July 2023 and June 2024. These are therefore anomalies discovered during inspections of vehicles in the German fleet.

MOST RELIABLE

Honda Jazz is the winner of the TUV Report 2025. The little Japanese, according to the body, demonstrated that even city cars can offer high standards of quality. Only 2.4% showed significant breakdowns at the first 3-year maintenance with an average mileage of 28,000 km. The Jazz has overtaken last year’s winner, the Volkswagen Golf Sportsvan, to take second place in the new rankings. Third place goes to the Audi Q2 and fourth place to the Porsche 911 Carrera. In fifth place is the Mitsubishi ASX with 2.7% of significant failures.

It is worth noting that the TUV report highlights that the main weak point of cars continues to be headlights. At the same time, the percentage of fully operational vehicles decreased slightly by 0.4 percentage points to 67.9%.

Worth noting than in the long termThe Porsche 911 Carrera comes out on top, showcasing the automaker's work on the model. Even over time, the level of serious failures remains low.

LEAST RELIABLE

While a small city car managed to top the rating, the least reliable was the much more advanced Tesla Model 3, which had a significant failure rate of 14.2% after just 3 years of life. The same result is in the rating of cars under 5 years old.

Subsequently, Dacia models top this ranking. In the case of cars under 13 years old, we find the Renault Twingo in last place. Regarding electric vehicles, the TUV report notes an interesting fact. In body they actually seem Electric vehicles built on endothermic platforms are more reliable compared to those created on a special platform. Reasons? TUV suggests that one reason could be the battery, which is larger and heavier in models built on a dedicated platform. Moreover, according to the body, the claim that electric vehicles require less maintenance is not entirely true. This may be true for the transmission, but not for other vehicle components. Longer or even recommended maintenance intervals can cause you to overlook small problems that can get worse over time.
