White cabbage is sold in any supermarket, but not everyone knows that a wonderful side dish can be made from it.

White cabbage is usually put in borscht, boiled or soured. It is extremely tasty and good in every way, but you can also cook an inexpensive but original side dish from it: cabbage steak.

They can be eaten with meat or alone. And they taste even better if you cook them in a simple cream sauce. By the way, the sauce is also suitable for other vegetable dishes.

Contents:

  • Half a head of cabbage;
  • soy sauce – 30 ml;
  • two cloves of garlic;
  • smoked paprika – 1 tsp;
  • Olive oil – 40 ml;

For the creamy chili sauce:

  • Cognac – 80 ml;
  • chicken broth – 160 ml;
  • Cream 33% – 200 ml;
  • Black pepper, salt.

Cut the cabbage into slices, you will get a total of 5-6 servings, depending on the size of the cabbage. Stir in soy sauce, minced garlic, smoked paprika, olive oil, and salt. By the way, fresh garlic can be replaced with granules.

We grease each cabbage steak with a mixture of soy sauce and spices with a silicone brush, wrap it in foil and send it to the oven for at least half an hour. We bake at 180 degrees.

Now we take two teaspoons of black pepper and grind it in a mortar. We steam the cognac in a saucepan, it takes about two minutes. Add broth to cognac, bring to a boil and reduce by half. Add the cream and cayenne pepper, cook on medium heat until the sauce thickens. Align with salt.

Fry the finished steaks in a frying pan in vegetable oil until golden brown. Serve with hot cream sauce.
