A rare diamond is considered the most precious and brightest of its kind.

A rare pink diamond will be auctioned at Sotheby’s in New York. And it is expected to sell for more than $35 million. The Daily Mail writes about it.

New York-based auction house Sotheby’s claims the Eternal Pink diamond, with its “unique color and shine,” could fetch more than $35 million when it goes up for auction in June.

A diamond called “Eternal Pink” was discovered in 2019 by a South African diamond company in a mine in Botswana.

Weighing approximately 10.57 carats, it is painted a rare purplish pink color and is considered ultra rare.

Quig Burning, Sotheby’s head of jewelry in America, said in a press release that “Eternal Pink” is poised to join the ranks of “the most important diamonds in history”.

Until now, the rare diamond can be admired in Hong Kong as part of Sotheby’s 50th anniversary celebrations in Asia. It will then travel to Dubai, Singapore and Geneva, and from there to New York.

The value of a diamond is partly due to its clarity, experts say it is considered completely flawless.

“This is the most beautiful and concentrated shade of pink in diamonds I’ve ever seen and released,” Berning said.

In 2020, a diamond mine in Australia, where pink diamonds are most often found, closed, so now their value has increased significantly.

The average price of such gemstones increased by 30 percent between June 2020 and June 2021.

Pink diamonds are one of the rarest and most sought after gemstones in the world and are considered the main attraction for investors. The most expensive pink diamond is CTF Pink Star, which was sold to Hong Kong jeweler Chow Tai Fook in 2017 for $71.2 million.

The highest auction price per carat belongs to the Williamson Pink Star diamond, which was bid for $58 million in 2022.

Previously, a unique and very large colored diamond called “Golden Canary” was put up for auction.
