Angelina Jolie will appear in public for the first time in a long time, and it’s not a red carpet.

The actress and her adopted eldest son, Maddox, have already been confirmed to attend the gala dinner in honor of the President of South Korea.

47-year-old American actress Angelina Jolie will appear in public for the first time in a long time on April 26. The celebrity, along with her adopted eldest son Maddox, will attend a 200-person state dinner at the White House hosted by the First Lady in honor of US President Joe Biden and South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol and his wife Kim Kyeon-hee. to the Daily Mail.

Jolie has visited the presidential residence many times. She first spoke there about the reaffirmation of the Violence Against Women Act in September 2021, she said. During the trip, she also visited Capitol Hill to lobby Congress on the issue.

He then went to the White House to watch President Biden sign the reauthorization of the law in March 2022. With him was his adopted daughter, Zakhara.

Jolie has long been active in political and international issues, particularly women’s issues, and speaks for refugees.

The State Dinner will be held in the East Room, the largest of the official rooms on the front of the White House.

The menu was created by Korean-American chef Edward Lee, known for combining traditional American classics with Korean flavors.

She recommended about a dozen dishes to Jill Biden and her team for a taste of the final menu.

“I wanted to take some of my favorite American dishes and work with them a little bit. This is how I cook in my restaurants – I just add some Korean touches. Again, it’s familiar but not unexpected and traditional Korean food, it just gives you a little Korean taste,” admitted the master.

No less time was devoted to the design of the hall. The First Lady and her team worked with Fête, an events and design firm owned by Korean-American Jeong Lee, to help establish the theme and setting.

According to Ms. Biden, the decor “should show the harmony of our cultures and the intertwining of our people.”

Upon entering the East Room, guests will be greeted by picturesque landscapes featuring some of the most American symbols (American bison, American bald eagle, roses, stars) and Korean paintings (Korean magpie and Korean tiger). According to White House staff, the decorations were inspired by the Taegeuk, the symbol at the center of the flag of the Republic of Korea, which represents balance, harmony and peace.

This is a tribute to 70 years of union with the Republic of Korea. There are platinum-colored tablecloths and flowers, which are important for both countries.

The most distinctive element of the decoration will be the cherry blossom branches in the vases rising above the tables, creating a canopy of pink flowers.

The table was set with porcelain from the administration of President George W. Bush. In the middle of the plate is a golden eagle. Each napkin has a fresh flower. Some tables are made of turquoise blue plexiglass, where the cherry blossoms reflect the guests.

Bamboo chairs have a blue color reminiscent of traditional sumuhwa (Korean ink painting). The patterns are peony branches representing prosperity and joy, and bamboo elements representing longevity and strength.

Peonies are the favorite flowers of the South Korean First Lady.

The entertainment section of the night will feature performances by Broadway stars Norm Lewis, Lea Salonga and Jessica Wax, who will be voicing American classics.
