Prince Harry was unable to give the best man’s speech at Prince William’s wedding, but was allowed to say a few words before the main event.
Prince Harry planned to play an impudent prank on Kate Middleton’s legs during a speech at Prince William’s wedding, but ex-girlfriend Chelsea Davy said it was ‘too much’. Miror writes about it.
The Duke of Sussex was officially recognized as William’s best man at his wedding to Kate in 2011. Recently, however, Harry said he was forced to participate and role-play in “open lies” to not be interested in the lives of “real” best men.
He claimed that his brother’s close friends, James Mead and Thomas Van Straubenzee, actually gave the traditional speech at the reception.
Instead, Harry was demoted just to act as an entertainer and introduce the couple – and came close to “shaming” his new bride.
After the formalities at Westminster Abbey, the newlyweds and their guests went to a private reception. Harry only gave a short speech, but his words reportedly “made a storm” as guests laughed and cried all the time. Kate’s eyes watered when she joked a lot with her sister, told cute stories and said their love was inspiring.
Harry was also planning a very cheeky prank, but Chelsea Davy, his girlfriend at the time, intervened and kicked him out because he thought he had gone too far.
According to royal expert Cathy Nicholl, Harry wanted to talk about his new bride’s “killer legs” – risky for any bride, let alone a future queen.
In her book Harry: Life, Loss and Love, Kathy explains that Harry asked Chelsea to read her speech and correct it before the big day.
“She helped Harry organize the best man speech and kindly advised him to remove the line about Kate’s ‘killer legs’ that might embarrass the bride,” Nicholl wrote.
Harry spoke about William’s wedding in his memoir published earlier this year, claiming that his brother was drunk on rum before he married Kate in 2011. The duke shared that his older brother came down to greet the people who had camped in the mall outside Buckingham Palace before the ceremony and were drunk after drinking to calm their nerves.
“You smell like alcohol,” said Harry, and offered him some mint.
Moreover Focus He wrote that Prince William did not plan to put up with his younger brother, Prince Harry.
