Famous blogger Ruby Franke’s children celebrated their 30th birthday

Ruby Franke, who published a blog about parenting and abused her children, was sentenced to 30 years in prison. Their children recorded a dance video.

Ruby Franke, a famous mother of many children who blogged about child-rearing and also starved and abused her children, was sentenced to 30 years in prison. His son Chad recorded a video of himself dancing and rejoicing over the decision. Tagging the video with the title: “My mom is in jail.” Chad was happy to leave the hearing. The Daily Mail writes about this.

The son of disgraced blogger mom Ruby Franke has expressed his delight at her imprisonment. Chad Franke is one of Ruby’s six children. And in the video he appeared with his girlfriend.

The video was released three days before Ruby was sentenced Tuesday. A blogger has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for abusing his own two children in a “concentration camp-like environment”.

Chad was in the courtroom and left with a smile on his face. His daughter Sheri also told reporters that “justice has finally triumphed.”

Franke, 42, pleaded guilty to four counts of child abuse last year after one of his young children ran away and told a neighbor about the abuse.

On Tuesday, Utah’s 5th District Court sentenced him to one to 15 years in prison for each count, for a total of 60 years.

How long he spends in prison will be determined by the Utah Board of Pardons and Paroles, and state law means he could serve a maximum of 30 years.

Franke broke down in tears in the courtroom, apologized to her children and told the judge she was ready to serve her sentence.

The same sentence was given to Franke’s business partner, Jodi Hildebrandt, on Tuesday. Both women will serve their sentences in Utah State Prison.

Ruby Franke, aka “Momfluencer,” became an internet sensation with her YouTube channel “8 Passengers,” where millions of viewers watched her and then-husband Kevin Franke raise and discipline their six children.

But late last year, shocking allegations emerged that Mormon Franke had abused his children for years.

Washington County Deputy District Attorney Ryan Schaum said in a written statement Tuesday that Franke and Hildebrandt’s actions represent “some of the worst cases of child abuse” he has seen in his nearly 30 years on the job.

“The two children, ages 9 and 11-12, were held in concentration camp conditions by their mother and her business partner for more than three months. They were regularly deprived of food, water, a bed to sleep and almost any form of entertainment. They were also forbidden from communicating with others and when people came to visit, they hid in the house,” the judge said, adding that the children had to do manual labor outdoors without shoes or socks in the intense summer heat.

“They were beaten and the 12-year-old boy had his hands and feet tied after he tried to escape,” he added.

Ruby’s ex-husband and older children Chad and Shari were also present in the courtroom.

Following the sentencing, Washington District Attorney Eric Clark said: “This is a case of religious extremism. The defendants appear fully convinced that the violence they committed was necessary so that the children could properly repent of imaginary ‘sins’ and exorcise evil spirits. Hildebrandt regularly had direct encounters with God.” Franke accepted Hildebrandt as his leader and followed his instructions.”

Ruby Franke case

The blogger and his business partner were arrested last August after his 12-year-old son climbed out of the window of Hildebrandt’s home and ran to a neighbor for help. The boy was emaciated and had marks on his arms and legs from being tied. The neighbor called 911.

The neighbor told the police, “A 12-year-old boy came to my door and asked for help. We know there is a problem at this neighbor’s house. He is exhausted. He has duct tape on his legs. He is hungry and thirsty.” .

The boy admitted that he was tied up and that hot pepper and honey were used to treat his wounds.

He was rushed to a local hospital. Shortly after, her 10-year-old sister was found in the same house in the same horrific condition.

Franke’s four young children were immediately taken into protective custody.

In the plea agreement, Ruby admitted torturing her son from May 22 to Aug. 30, forcing him to exercise for hours, working outdoors in the summer without adequate water and failing to treat a sunburn.

They were denied food or given very basic food and isolated from other people, with no access to books, laptops or electronics.

He was regularly restrained and sometimes handcuffed after he tried to escape in July.

According to the plea agreement, Ruby also admitted to kicking her son with her boots, holding his head under water and covering his mouth and nose with her hands.

“He was also told that whatever was done to him was an act of love,” the agreement states.

Lawyers for the children’s father, Kevin Franke, said he had not seen them in more than a year at Ruby’s request. Kevin officially filed for divorce from his wife in November 2023. The plea came months after Ruby was first accused of child abuse. Her lawyer said she now wants to rebuild her relationship with her children.

According to his lawyer, Kevin “never had any reason to believe that his children were being abused.”
