What happened on January 11?
Today the Orthodox Church honors the memory of Theodosius the Great. He was born and lived in Cappadocia in the 5th century and later founded monasticism in Palestine. God gave him a beautiful voice, so he served as a reader in church. In 451 Theodosius went to Jerusalem, where he became a student of the Monk Longinus. It was later moved to the Church of Our Most Pure Lady Theotokos between Bethlehem and Jerusalem. There Theodosius dedicated himself to God, then entered a cave and later decided to build a temple. The monk lived to be 105 years old.
