The prosecutor’s office of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) sent to court a case against Ukrainian marine Anton Baidrakov, who is accused of killing a hostage and trying to seize power in the DPR. The serviceman faces capital punishment, the death penalty, RIA Novosti reported with reference to the press service of the prosecutor’s office.
The department emphasized that Baidrakov, who served in the 501st separate battalion of the marine corps, “is involved in the commission of a number of especially serious crimes on the territory of the republic.” The marine is accused of activities aimed at forcibly seizing and holding power in the DPR, ill-treatment of civilians, unlawful imprisonment of a person and murder.
The investigators found out that Baidrakov forcibly held a civilian, and then shot her with a machine gun.
The DPR prosecutor’s office added that, according to the results of the trial, taking into account wartime, the Marine may face capital punishment – the death penalty.
