A pensioner was blown up by an anti-personnel mine “Petal” in Donetsk

A civilian was injured after being blown up by a Ukrainian anti-personnel mine “Lepestok” in Donetsk. This was announced in his Telegram channel by the mayor of the city Alexei Kulemzin.

He clarified that the incident took place in the courtyard of a private house on Dobronravy Street.

“A man born in 1959 received a mine-explosive injury to his right foot,” Kulemzin noted.

The victim was taken to a hospital in the city.

On August 6, the representative office of the DPR in the JCCC reported that Ukrainian troops fired from a tank at the village of the Trudovskaya mine in Donetsk.

Anti-personnel high-explosive mine (PFM-1) “Petal” is designed to damage the legs – detonation occurs when a person steps on it. The insidiousness of the mine lies in the fact that, due to the unusual shape, people may not understand that this is a dangerous object. At the same time, Ukraine in 2005 ratified the Ottawa Convention, which prohibits the use of such mines.

Russian special operation to protect Donbass

Recall, on February 17, the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics announced an aggravation of the situation. The republics announced the evacuation of civilians.

On February 21, the leaders of the Donbass republics turned to Russian leader Vladimir Putin with a request to recognize the independence of the DNR and LNR. The head of state held a meeting of the Security Council, after which he announced the recognition of the republics. Friendship and cooperation agreements were also signed with the independent Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics. The State Duma and the Federation Council ratified these agreements.

On February 23, the heads of the DPR and LPR appealed to Russian President Vladimir Putin with a request to help repel Ukraine’s aggression in order to prevent a humanitarian catastrophe and civilian casualties. On February 24, the Russian leader addressed the nation and announced the start of a special operation in Ukraine to protect Donbass.
