The Indonesian authorities are interested in holding a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Ukrainian counterpart Vladimir Zelensky on the sidelines of the G20 summit. This was announced by the Ambassador of the Republic in Moscow Jose Tavares.
“Indonesian leader Joko Widodo extended invitations to the heads of Russia and Ukraine a long time ago. If they take part in the G20 summit in Bali, then of course there will be an opportunity to organize a meeting. Indonesia is more than ready to assist in this. We would like this if Putin and Zelensky come“, he explained to TASS.
The G20 summit will take place on November 15 and 16. On July 6, the Russian Foreign Ministry informed Indonesia on a preliminary basis that Vladimir Putin intended to take part in the G20. On the eve of this statement, the press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov stressed that the Russian Federation is a member of the G20 and is going to take part in the summit, but in what form this will be done, it will become clear after analyzing the situation.
On July 9, adviser to the head of the office of the Ukrainian president, Mikhail Podolyak, said that Zelensky could attend the G20 summit.
