Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis said that all EU countries should close their borders to every Russian citizen. He is confident that such measures will be more effective than a ban on the entry of only one state.

“Lithuania has consistently advocated the application of sanctions against countries that behave aggressively, and adheres to the position that the restrictions imposed on them are more effective if they operate at the EU level”– Landsbergis is quoted by the BNS agency.

With these words, the Latvian minister commented on the message about restrictions on the entry of Russians into Lithuania, which will come into force on August 18, even if they previously had a Schengen visa through his country.

“According to the assessments of our authorities, in essence, the Estonian decision is very similar to the restrictions applied by Lithuania”Landsbergis added.

Recall that Russians with a Schengen visa will not be able to visit Estonia. From August 18, citizens of the Russian Federation with a Schengen visa issued in Estonia will not be allowed to stay in the country. However, this does not apply to those who have issued a visa in other states of the Schengen zone.
