Hollywood stars visiting Ukraine are guided by their personal goals, the author of the publication said The Hill Judy Kurtz.
“It’s all about branding. Who do Hollywood stars represent? If you think about it, you will understand that they only represent themselves because they need and crave public recognition in order to create their brand”– the journalist notes.
She recalled that Ben Stiller, Angelina Jolie, Sean Penn and Liev Schreiber have already visited Kyiv. The latest to meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky so far was star Jessica Chastain. Her visit was criticized by the Americans on the Web, the author of the article in the publication recalled.
Kurz noted that Zelensky, trying to attract the attention of as many stars as possible, wants to put pressure on the United States and EU countries in this way.
But people are realizing that Hollywood actors don’t understand the ongoing conflict. Therefore, the statements of the artists are much less trusted. As soon as another topic appears that is more of concern to Americans, their attention to the situation in Ukraine will subside and the stars will stop visiting Kyiv.
On July 27, the too “glamorous” image of the first lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenskaya was criticized on the Web at a photo shoot for the American Vogue magazine. She posed in luxurious outfits against the backdrop of military equipment and humanitarian aid. Commentators on the Internet said that it would be better if Zelenskaya went as a volunteer to the regions of Ukraine, and not be photographed.
