Rochelle Walensky reorganizes CDC due to slow response to COVID-19

Following an internal review of operations, the director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Rochelle Walensky admits she’s reorganizing the agency because he says he didn’t react fast enough during the pandemic COVID-19.

Walensky shared a statement that he will be making several organizational changes that the CDC will make in the coming months. in order to correct errors and malfunctions that have occurred within the past two and a half years since COVID-19 was recognized as a pandemic.

“For 75 years, the CDC and public health have been preparing for COVID-19. and in our big time and our performance has reliably fallen short of expectations,” Rochelle Walensky said in a statement.

In the same newsletter, he added, “My goal is to create a new, action-oriented public health culture at CDC that emphasizes accountability, collaboration, communication, and timeliness.”

Among the goals of this new aspect of the CDC under the command of its director focus on faster exchange of scientific data to make it easier for people to understand health advice.

Valensky started the review last April when the population began to become infected with the omicron variant and the country’s public health response has faced some challenges that have subjected them to various criticisms during the pandemic.

The CDC has reportedly misrepresented some of the public health advice, as well as being slow to disclose data in retrospective reports that were missed by the rapid spread of the virus.

Following the review, Walensky appointed an executive to lead the team that will implement the changes. A new executive board will also be created that will report directly to the director to set the agency’s priorities, which will be supported by budgetary decisions.

The agency’s science and science laboratory will keep the director informed of any movement or situation, as the unit plays an important role in investigating and monitoring threats to public health.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is reviewing create an office for better communication guidance on public health in all groups.
