Three Crawford County, Arkansas law enforcement officers have been placed on leave following a video posted to social media. it shows them beating and holding a man in a parking lot. According to the governor, the state police will investigate the incident.
In the video, a law enforcement officer repeatedly and severely beats a man and repeatedly hits his head on the concrete floor. Another officer is seen kicking the man’s lower body several times while a third officer restrains the man.
Two of the officers are Crawford County Sheriff’s Deputies and the third is an officer with the Mulberry City Police Department, police confirmed.
Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson confirmed that state police are investigating the “arrest incident.”
“I have spoken to Arkansas State Police Colonel Bill Bryant and the local arrest incident in Crawford County will be investigated based on video evidence and the prosecutor’s request,” he said on Twitter.
Crawford County Sheriff James Damante said in a statement hours ago that his office has requested a state investigation, adding that two deputies involved in the incident have been suspended “until the investigation is completed.”
“Appropriate measures will be taken in this regard.Damante assured, and in the same vein, the Mulberry police made their decision against their agent.
According to the radio station NPR, a Tik Tok user named Naomi Johnson posted a video to the social network with the message: “My sister witnessed this today.”. His video has been removed from the aforementioned network, although it appears in numerous tweets.
Police sources told local media that the incident occurred after Alma City police received a report about a man threatening a store clerk to “cut his face” and sending out “terrorist” messages.
The man left the store and rode his bike down the highway until the police stopped him. According to police, the detainee tried to escape and even attacked one of the policemen.
A man is in police custody after being taken to hospital with unspecified injuries and facing multiple charges, including assault and terrorist threats.
