Russian President Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with Tajik President Emomali Rahmon. According to the Kremlin press service, the politicians discussed bilateral relations, as well as the SCO summit to be held in Samarkand in September.
“Some topical issues of further development of friendly Russian-Tajik relations were discussed, as well as the topics of the upcoming summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Samarkand in September”the message says.
The press service of the Tajik leader also added that Rahmon also discussed with Putin current international problems and issues of regional cooperation, including “ensuring regional security with an emphasis on the situation in Afghanistan.”
During the talks, the presidents of the countries agreed to maintain contacts on these issues in the future, and also noted the importance of further building up multi-aspect cooperation between the parties.
Earlier it became known that the SCO summit will be held on September 15-16. During it, according to plans, the procedure for joining the unification of Iran will be completed. In addition, Egypt, Qatar and Saudi Arabia will be given the status of dialogue partners.
