The US army attacked the objects of “groups associated” with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), located in the Syrian city of Deir ez-Zor, according to the US Central Command (CENTCOM) on its social network account Twitter.

“At the direction of the President [США Джо] Biden, the U.S. military today carried out precision airstrikes in Deir ez-Zor, Syria… The U.S. is striking infrastructure used by groups associated with Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC),” – indicated in the application.

According to CENTCOM, the attack was carried out to “protect American personnel.” The ministry also emphasized the “proportional” nature of the strikes, which is aimed at “limiting the risk of escalation and minimizing the risk of casualties.”

In addition, CENTCOM said that the United States does not want the conflict in Syria to escalate, but will continue to take “necessary measures to protect the American people.”
