The energy crisis in the UK will last for several years, and tough measures will be needed to solve it, said Foreign Minister Liz Truss, who claims to be the country’s prime minister.

“If people think that the problem will be solved within six months, then they are wrong. This is a long-term problem,” she said at a meeting with members of the Conservative Party in Norwich.

Truss stressed that Britain, due to the rejection of Russian hydrocarbons, should again begin developing new oil and gas fields in the North Sea, accelerate the construction of nuclear power plants in the country and actively switch to renewable energy sources. According to the minister, if she becomes the country’s prime minister, the British economy will be revived by lowering taxes and creating a more favorable environment for doing business.

On Thursday, Sky News, citing public opinion polls, reported that about a third of Britons were having difficulty paying their electricity bills even before the tariff increase planned for the fall.

Earlier it was reported that the British predicted famine due to London’s environmental policy.
