Soldiers of the National Guard defused several dozen mines and unexploded ordnance in the liberated territories. Most of them were destroyed by controlled explosions right at the place of discovery. Moreover, sappers have to clear the same areas twice – Ukrainian saboteurs set up new deadly traps. The war correspondent spoke about the details “IzvestiaDaniil Levin.
Projectile destruction
Engineering units of the Russian Guard are constantly organizing such explosions. Destroy unexploded ordnance threatening civilians.
Funnels were shown to our servicemen by local farmers. They, taking risks, still go to the fields, where one piece of land with a protruding shank remained uncultivated. Experts carefully set the charge at depth.
The sappers retreat to a safe distance. Everything is ready to explode. A command sounds, and an explosion occurs. So take off into the air more than ten kilograms of TNT.
From a bird’s eye view, the scale is striking – how many fields are plowed up with funnels in the frontline areas. All these territories are yet to be decontaminated. Now sappers are actively working in the already liberated settlements. Time after time, the same places are examined, as saboteurs lay new mines with cynical cruelty right outside residential buildings.
“In one settlement they cleared out, pulled out about 60 anti-tank mines. The next day we went there for engineering reconnaissance, and in the same place where we checked, mines were planted again. In a residential area, near residential buildings”– says the sapper.
Help for civilians
In addition to demining, Russian servicemen help people with food. For example, today they distribute cereals, canned food and sweets in the village of Krasnorechenskoye.
There were practically no battles in this part of the settlement. But it’s still hard for the locals. Therefore, the Russian Guards themselves come specifically to those in special need.
The head of a family with four children is unable to work after a recent stroke. Because the kids will not remember when they ate chocolate for the last time. In the neighboring house, the mother brings up two sons alone. Now low-income residents are applying for benefits, which will soon begin to be paid by the authorities of the LPR.
“Further everything will be better, we will fix everything together”– says the guard.
