The Kyiv authorities are doing everything to disrupt the trip of the IAEA mission to the Zaporizhia NPP. This was announced on August 26 by the Russian Foreign Ministry.
The department indicated that Kyiv has not yet stopped shelling the nuclear power plant. The nationalists are included in the area of the storage of spent nuclear fuel.
“Ukrainian troops are now inflicting new strikes on the ZNPP … The Kyiv regime continues to do everything to disrupt the IAEA trip to the facility. These calculations will not come true”the message says.
The Foreign Ministry added that Russia is still doing everything necessary to ensure that the trip of the IAEA mission to the Zaporizhzhya NPP is safe and achieves all the goals.
“The main thing is to stop the nuclear arbitrariness on the part of the regime of Vladimir Zelensky and put an end to the shelling of the station, ensuring its further safe operation”– concluded the ministry.
Recall that earlier Russia’s Permanent Representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzya said that the IAEA mission to visit the nuclear power plant in Zaporizhzhya was “on the way.” Also at a meeting of the Security Council of the organization, Nebenzya showed pictures confirming the shelling of the ZNPP by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
And the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency Mariano Grossi said that the conditions for the trip of IAEA experts to the Zaporozhye NPP are now being agreed with Russia and Ukraine in coordination with the UN.
On August 7, the Armed Forces of Ukraine began repeatedly firing at the ZNPP with American GMLRS missiles. On August 18, the Russian Ministry of Defense warned that Kyiv was preparing a large-scale provocation on the territory of a nuclear power plant in order to accuse Russia of nuclear terrorism and create an exclusion zone of up to 30 kilometers.
On August 20, the authorities of the Zaporozhye region reported that the provocation of Ukrainian nationalists had been prevented, but in any case they would try to realize their criminal plans again. On the same day, Ukrainian militants again hit the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant with NATO-caliber shells.
