HOUSTON – the girl at the center of the Amber Alert message issued Tuesday evening from the Rosenberg area has died. According to the Rosenberg police, after her father stabbed her, who kidnapped her.
Leilani Ordoñez died on Wednesday morning after being transferred to the hospital. His father, Alexander Barrios Ordóñez, 24, is also dead.
Leilani was last seen shortly after 6:00 pm on Tuesday. Rosenberg police said the father had kidnapped the little girl.
The officers said the father stabbed the man and stole his truck before driving to the house where the girl was cared for by a nanny.
Then he left this place in an unknown direction.
Sugarland Police said that around 2 a.m. Wednesday, one of their officers stopped Ordoñez in a truck near the intersection of the University and the highway near a HEB store. The driver fled and began a pursuit that returned an hour later to the Rosenberg area.
The chase ended near Highway 59 South and FM 762. Police said Ordonez exited the truck with the girl in his arms, the baby already bleeding. Later, the father stabbed himself.
Police said the child was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The daughter of the man Ordonez stabbed said the suspect was hired by her father and left his job about three or four months ago.
