The Permanent Mission of Russia to UNESCO told the secretariat of this organization about France’s failure to fulfill its obligations to ensure the visit of foreign delegations to UNESCO events. Thus, Russian diplomats were not given visas to participate in the 33rd session of the Intergovernmental Council of the UNESCO International Program for the Development of Communications, which was held in Paris.
“Our representation through diplomatic channels applied to the UNESCO secretariat – sent a note in which it raised with the secretariat the question of France’s failure to fulfill its obligations in accordance with the agreement between UNESCO and the French side“, – TASS quotes the statement of the Russian permanent mission.
As a result, two Russian diplomats were left without visas, although Moscow did everything to ensure that the documents were still received. Not to mention the fact that France knew perfectly well why Russian diplomats were going to Paris.
In fact, France has not fulfilled its obligations. However, Paris did not succeed in disrupting the work of Russia at the UNESCO session.
Earlier, the permanent representatives of the EU countries at the COREPER II meeting agreed on the position on the non-recognition of Russian passports issued in the DPR, LPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions, which became part of Russia as a result of referendums.
Thus, Russian passports issued in these territories will not be valid when obtaining visas or when entering the Schengen area.
