War criminal: European Parliament says Lukashenka awaits trial

The resolution of the European Parliament recognizes the President of Belarus and officials associated with him as guilty of war crimes in Ukraine. All of them should be brought before the international criminal court.

The European Parliament adopted a resolution condemning the involvement of Belarus in the war initiated by Russia in Ukraine. The text of the document is available on the European Parliament’s website.

President Alexander Lukashenko and his associated government officials are responsible for war crimes in Ukraine and must be brought before an international criminal court and justice.

The resolution calls on the Council of Europe and the European Commission to finalize mechanisms for property confiscation of Lukashenka, her family and those closest to her.

The document states that all resources of the Belarusian regime should be directed to support the victims of its actions and the Belarusian democratic opposition.

The parliamentarians supported the soldiers of the Kastus Kalinouski regiment and other Belarusian volunteers who supported Ukraine in its fight against the Russian aggressor.

“Belarus should be recognized as a de facto occupied territory, and Russia should immediately withdraw all its military units,” the politicians said.

The document confirms the actions of the Belarusian democratic opposition and civil society. Lukashenka’s attempt to undermine Belarusian culture and Russify the nation was condemned.

The European Parliament urged the EU to support independent cultural organizations in Belarus: theatres, choirs, schools, public groups and other initiatives.

Recall that on November 24, Lukashenko warned Ukraine against “total destruction” if the authorities did not agree to speak with Moscow. “Indeed, everything is now in Ukraine’s hands,” said the dictator.

Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, Belarus is supported by the Russian Federation, border troops formed shock aircraft operators units.

Russia previously deployed 40 Shahed-136 Iranian drones to Belarus, and also sent trains with weapons and military equipment.

Belarus agreed to create joint military training centers with Russia. Belarus trains anti-aircraft missile systems and tank crew operators.
