2,5 thousand people attended a mass nude photo shoot in Sydney (photo, video)

Famous American photographer Spencer Tunick took a nude shot on Bondi Beach – for this, local authorities had to temporarily change the law.

About 2,500 nude volunteers posed for a photo shoot on Sydney’s Bondi Beach in the early morning to raise awareness about skin cancer. The project is the work of American photographer Spencer Tunick, who set out to motivate Australians to regularly check their skin. For the sake of the shooting, the authorities had to change the legislation banning public exposure on the beach. The BBC writes about it.

From 03:30 local time (5:30 pm Kyiv time), volunteers gathered on the beach during Skin Cancer Awareness Week to participate in an installation in collaboration with charity Skin Check Champions.

“We have the opportunity to raise awareness about skin controls, and I’m honored to come here to perform my art and just celebrate the body and its preservation,” said the world-renowned photographer.

Bruce Fisher, 77, who was one of the attendees of the event, said he spent half his life in the open sun and that doctors removed several malignant tumors on his back.

“I thought it was for good reason and I love being naked on Bondi Beach,” the man said.

Reporters added that Tunick is known for his nudity shots in the world’s most iconic places.

Recall that recently scientists clearly demonstrated what would happen if you applied sunscreen to your face and not your neck.

We also wrote about how skin cancer was discovered in Australian actor Hugh Jackman, best known for his role as Wolverine in the Marvel Cinematic Universe “X-Men” movies.
