Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov commented on rumors about possible negotiations between Russian President Vladimir Putin and French leader Emmanuel Macron. According to the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry, no signals have yet been received through diplomatic channels from the President of France.

At the same time, Lavrov stressed that the French often make their diplomatic steps as public as possible. Recall that on November 23, Macron announced that he planned to make direct contact with Vladimir Putin in the “coming days”, but a few days later he added that he would do this only after a visit to Washington.

“The French have such a way of making their diplomacy extremely public. We were waiting for him to call, if he was going to really call, but then three days ago some journalists asked him again, and he said: “I will not try contact Putin until I go to Washington”– Lavrov conveyed.

After such behavior, as the Russian minister explained, Moscow came to the conclusion that Macron’s words did not correspond to his desires, and the possible negotiations announced by the French leader could take place only after the “advice” of US President Joe Biden.
