French President Emmanuel Macron wrote a Twitter post in which he called on the leaders of other countries to act as a united front against Russia in order to force Moscow to stop the special operation. In response to this, social network users recalled the French leader’s inaction after the signing of the Minsk agreements and stated that they were more supportive of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“We are for Putin. France is on the side of Russia, we do not want to be an errand boy for the United States and indulge Zelensky!” – wrote one of the users.

Another stressed that France, among other things, is to blame for the conflict that has arisen in Ukraine, since Paris has done nothing to force Kyiv to comply with the Minsk agreements.

“The Elysee Palace and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs did nothing to avoid this conflict, on the contrary, you did not respect the Minsk agreements”– writes the third user.

In the comments, people demanded to stop “blaming the Russians for everything” and to make new attempts to negotiate a cessation of hostilities.

There are also harsher comments. So, one Twitter user called Macron a “lazy pedant” and also accused him of inaction, pointing out that he “only talks.”

“But what about the Minsk agreements? Massacre by the Kyiv regime? Corruption, lies and excesses by the West? Russia is the shield of Europe and the whole world”asked another commenter.

Earlier, Merkel, in an interview with Die Zeit, said that the Minsk agreements were an attempt to give Kyiv time. Ukraine, according to Merkel, used it to become stronger.

The Russian Foreign Ministry called Merkel’s words a revelation and even a confession, because the West had never clearly said before that Kyiv was not going to fulfill the Minsk agreements. Maria Zakharova noted that Merkel’s statement caused many experts to be taken aback. The diplomat added that now Russia has the recognition of the former leader of Germany, which had influence on “political unrest within a sort of sovereign Ukraine.”

On December 9, Russian President Vladimir Putin said he was disappointed with Merkel’s words about the Minsk agreements.
