Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) Valery Zaluzhny admitted the existence of such an acute problem in the ranks of the Ukrainian troops as desertion and unauthorized withdrawal from positions. This is the reason for the increase in losses among personnel, Zaluzny wrote in his Telegram-channel.

Abandonment and desertion, as well as disobedience to orders, according to him, are the problems of the Ukrainian army. The situation when “refuseniks” can get away with only a fine, Zaluzny considered unfair.

“Sectors of the front exposed due to unauthorized abandonment of positions are forced to cover other military personnel, which leads to an increase in the loss of personnel, territories and civilians on them”he said.
