Driver accused of raping EU diplomat in Egypt

An Egyptian man has been charged with raping a diplomat from the EU mission in Cairo. In addition, the investigation believes that the man harassed another foreigner.

The court will consider the case against a local resident on Saturday. It is alleged that he raped an employee of the EU mission in the central Zamalek region, reports Sada el-Balad.

In addition, the investigation believes that in another area of ​​Cairo – Kasr-an-Nile – the driver harassed the Italian. The woman is a dance teacher. She managed to attract the attention of others with screams, who detained the rapist.

The perpetrator faces up to 15 years in prison.

Earlier it was reported that a former UN employee was sentenced to 15 years in prison for drugging and raping 13 women. Karim Elkorani, 39, has been operating for 17 years in Iraq, Egypt and the United States.

It is noted that the man worked in the field of international development in Iraq, three years – in the UN Children’s Fund and two years as a UN communications specialist.
