Learning of the alcohol conspiracy at the Christmas party, prison officials sent a detachment of service dogs to patrol. As a result of the check, several caches with alcohol appeared.
Prisoners in the UK made a “giant” batch of moonshine from the prison canteen using fruit, sugar and bread. The mirror writes about it.
A team of top-notch sniffer dogs was reportedly patrolling the perimeter of the prison after authorities learned of a conspiracy over a shipment of alcohol. As a result of the check, the dogs found a number of large illegal caches.
“The prisoners hoped to pool their resources and throw a real Christmas party, but they didn’t trust the dogs. It would be a real headache for the staff if the ‘party’ happened,” the source said.
In addition to bringing dogs, the prison also reduced the amount of fresh fruit inmates bought in the canteen.
The Independent Review Board, the oversight body, said in its inspection report that inmates “significantly increased their alcohol production”.
“Fortunately, it is relatively easy to detect, as associated odors are difficult to hide. Hooch dogs are used with cell searches and are often present in significant numbers. To further deter this, the governor has reduced the availability of raw materials for moonshine production, particularly fruit. “Prisoners can’t automatically get any more fruit and have to beg for it. Distribution is limited to one piece per day.”
Remember, scientists discovered that dogs can recognize human stress by smell.
