Internet users from Germany reacted sharply to the statements of the head of the German CDU party, Friedrich Merz, about his ways to save energy in an energy crisis. It is reported by Die Welt.

Merz has previously stated that he uses real candles as decoration for the Christmas tree. In his opinion, this alone supposedly “naturally raises the temperature in the room.”

Many German netizens are indignant and outraged because of the recommendations of the head of the CDU. According to them, this “heating method” increases the risk of fire, the level of carbon dioxide, the proportion of soot particles and much more.

“Why heating? Just the increase in blood pressure caused by such statements warms the heart,” joked an Internet user from Germany.

“It is unbearable how contempt the political elite look down on the common people,” another user pointed out.

“As a firefighter, I would like to thank you on behalf of all my comrades for your brilliant remark about candles. Besides heating blankets, fans, old stoves with sooty exhaust pipes, and so on, this perfectly complements the causes of the fire. Instead of an explicit campaign for permanent nuclear power, we have here green goo again, commentator noted.

“I’m shocked by such a ridiculous proposal – supposedly heating by lighting many candles in enclosed spaces! This increases the risk of fire, the level of carbon dioxide, the proportion of soot particles and much more! Let’s see what the residents will say when, due to the low temperature in the room Massive mold will appear on the walls!”– the German user is indignant.

“Well, yes, when the tree burns, it will be even warmer,” the user joked.

The European Union’s rejection of Russian energy resources is part of large-scale anti-Russian sanctions adopted by Western countries after the start of the Russian special operation to protect Donbass. However, the sanctions have done more economic harm to Europe itself than to Russia. For example, the International Energy Agency has warned of an unprecedented energy crisis in Europe.

Europeans are coming out to protest against the uncontrolled rise in prices for food, essential goods and housing and communal services. In Germany, they have already begun to prepare for regular power outages.

France is running out of gas at gas stations due to the energy crisis. The British refuse heating, so as not to get into debt. In Berlin, due to fuel shortages, residents have cut down almost all the trees in the Tiergarten central park. Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki called on the country’s population to prepare for a difficult winter.

It is worth noting that there was no large-scale energy crisis in the United States. Although in the spring of this year in the United States, gasoline prices have risen sharply.
