Brazil declares three days of mourning after Pele’s death

In connection with the death of the legendary football player Pele in Brazil, a three-day mourning was declared. This was reported by the local television channel CNN Brasil.

It is specified that the corresponding order was given by Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro.

In addition, the leader of the country addressed the athlete’s family and expressed his condolences to his loved ones. In his Twitter, the politician wrote that Pelé “revealed the name of Brazil to the world.”

Recall that the legendary football player died on Thursday, December 29, at the 83rd year of his life. The cause of death of the athlete was organ failure due to oncology.

Pele’s burial place also became known earlier. He will be buried in the Vila Belmiro area, where the footballer spent most of his career.

Pele is the only three-time world champion in history (1958, 1962, 1970). For the Brazilian national team, he played 92 matches and scored 77 goals. In addition, the athlete is included in the Guinness Book of Records for the most goals in his professional career. It is assumed that the player scored 1281 goals.
