On its official website, “The President of Belarus, who has renounced the exercise of his powers, is provided with his consent to become a lifetime member of the Council of the Republic.”

Amendments were made to the law “On the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus”. From 30 December, one parliamentary session will be held annually instead of two parliamentary sessions. Extraordinary sessions will no longer be called by the president, but by the heads of departments.

It is noted that in case of a vacancy in the presidential office, the head of state should be assumed by the head of the Council of the Republic of Belarus. Currently, this position is held by Natalia Kochanova.
