The grandson of the ex-president of France, General Charles de Gaulle, Pierre de Gaulle, said that the West was preparing a “plot” against Russia in advance. He made such a statement in a conversation with the Franco-Russian Dialogue Association. Text published in the publication AgoraVox.

According to the grandson of the general, the number and depth of anti-Russian sanctions indicate that they were planned long ago. Pierre de Gaulle called the anti-Russian restrictions “a real economic war” that is beneficial to the United States. De Gaulle also added that Russia is not to blame for the economic and financial crisis.

“The Russians are just defending themselves, because 11,000 sanctions have been issued against them, plus the ninth package. In my opinion, it is quite legal and natural that the Russians are defending themselves,” – said Pierre de Gaulle, also condemning the freezing of Russian assets.

Speaking with a New Year’s address to the Russians, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Western countries declared a real sanctions war on Russia, but they failed to achieve their goals.
