US Army officer admired Russian drone

The Russian Federation will significantly strengthen its own Armed Forces (AF) due to the new Russian strike drone S-70B (“Hunter”). This was stated to 19FortyFive by retired US Army officer Brent Eastwood.

According to Eastwood, the “most exciting” ability of the S-70B Okhotnik will be the “leader” mode, which involves the use of a drone as part of a joint combat unit with the Russian fifth-generation Su-57 fighter.

The ex-US Army officer noted that the “wingman” concept would include up to four “Okhotnik” drones that would fly ahead of the Su-57 for warning, guidance and ground strikes.

Brent Eastwood added that the Russian drone would strengthen the Su-57 and make it “more lethal”.

Also, the tasks of the “Hunter” will include not only strikes against targets on the ground, but also electronic warfare and intelligence gathering.

In addition, the drone will be equipped with an AL-41F1 turbojet bypass aircraft engine to bring the range of the S-70B Okhotnik up to 6,000 kilometers.
