They accuse Trump of negligence in the death of officer Brian Siknik in the attack on the Capitol.

Heritage brian siknick, cop out Capitol who died after responding to the attack on January 6, 2021, is suing the two attackers involved in the attack and the former president Donald Trump for her alleged role in inciting him, according to CNN.

The civil lawsuit, filed Thursday in federal court in Washington, D.C., exacerbates Donald Trump’s troubles over his efforts to prevent a peaceful transition of power following his 2020 election defeat.

Trump is already the defendant in several other civil lawsuits related to Jan. 6.where he claimed that his presidency exempted him from responsibility.

The Siknik estate lawsuit was filed a day before the two-year anniversary of the attack on the Capitol.

“While Officer Siknik and hundreds of others, including other police officers, elected officials and rank and file workers on Capitol Hill, were threatened with death, and the insurgent mob vandalized the headquarters of American democracy, the defendant Trump watched events unfold. happening live from White House security,” Siknik’s attorneys and his partner, Sandra Garza, wrote in the complaint.

“The terrible events of January 6, 2021, including the tragic and wrongful death of Officer Siknik, were a direct and predictable consequence of the unlawful actions of the defendants,” the lawsuit says.

The lawsuit alleges that on January 6, Trump instructed his supporters in Washington to “fight like crazy” and “show strength” in a speech ahead of the Capitol Hill riots.

Julian Hater and George Tanios, the two Capitol raiders named in the lawsuit, pleaded guilty last summer to crimes related to the attack. Their sentences are due at the end of this month.

During the riot, Kater took a bear spray from Thanios’ backpack, sprayed Siknik and the other officers in the face, and forced them to retreat as the rioters advanced up the steps of the Capitol.

Siknik suffered multiple strokes and died of natural causes the day after the attack on the Capitol, according to a 2021 report by D.C. chief medical examiner Francisco Diaz, who told the Washington Post that “everything that happened” in January “played a role in his condition.”

Siknik’s accusation of Trump’s wrongful death is the most serious accusation to date.those who believe that the former president was responsible for the January 6 attack.

Siknik’s lawyers are seeking more than $10 million in damages from the court.

Criminal investigations are also ongoing around January 6, including an investigation into Trump-backed attempts to derail a Joe Biden victory, now led by Special Counsel Jack Smith.
