Due to the 2024 presidential election in the United States, the future of Ukraine may be in question. It is reported by The Washington Post.

The publication said that the fate of Kyiv is becoming increasingly dependent on “variables beyond its control.”

The material says that Europe’s military contribution, despite its political support for Ukraine, is negligible, in contrast to the transfer of huge amounts of weapons to Kyiv from the United States, whose future commitments may be in question if representatives of the Republican Party win the elections in 2024.

“It can all drag on for a while, but by then Ukraine’s chances will really decrease,” Elizabeth Shackelford of the Chicago Council on Global Affairs said.

The publication also mentions doubts about the ability of the West to provide Ukraine with shells. It is assumed that this can undermine the combat capability of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and lead to their depletion.

The material also draws attention to the fact that the difficult financial situation of Kyiv casts doubt on its independence.

Recall that on January 6, the United States allocated a new $3 billion military aid package to Ukraine – the largest of all aid packages since the beginning of the special operation. It will include infantry fighting vehicles, howitzers, armored personnel carriers and surface-to-air missiles.

It is worth noting that in other states, people are already beginning to be tired of the fact that the authorities are sending huge funds to Ukraine, while their own population is forced to endure hardships. Thus, the British called Prime Minister Rishi Sunak an “idiot” for his words about supporting Ukraine and were surprised how “a country that cannot afford a wage increase (meaning Great Britain) can afford to make financial gifts abroad.”
