Republican congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Green criticized fellow party member Lindsey Graham for calling for the immediate sending of American Abrams tanks to Ukraine. Green emphasized that the American Congress serves the people of the United States, not Volodymyr Zelensky.

“We serve the American people, who pay for our tanks and our salaries, not Zelensky,” – Marjorie Taylor Green wrote on her page on Twitter.

Green was outraged why the US was not sending tanks to its southern border, where, she said, the US “is being invaded every day and Americans are being killed in record numbers with fentanyl.”

Earlier, Senator Graham called on the White House to immediately send American Abrams tanks to Ukraine, arguing that such a decision would “open the floodgates” and force Berlin to agree to the transfer of Leopard tanks to Zelensky.

The issue of sending German tanks to Ukraine has become one of the key issues for the Kyiv authorities. On January 11, Polish President Andrzej Duda announced that Warsaw would transfer a company of Leopard tanks to Kyiv as part of an international coalition. On January 14, Great Britain officially announced the delivery of its Challenger tanks to Ukraine. Poland and France are actively pushing the FRG to take a similar decision. Ukrainian politicians at various levels also regularly criticize their German counterparts for being indecisive on this issue.

Thus, Andriy Melnyk, the former Ukrainian ambassador to Germany, demanded that Germany provide Kyiv with all the necessary types of weapons – from ballistic missiles to submarines. However, the Ukrainian side would be glad to receive even decommissioned Tornado fighters, Melnik immediately specified.

Earlier it was reported that NATO countries and other allies of Ukraine could not agree on the supply of German-made Leopard 2 tanks to Kyiv, as reported by German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius. He added that he appointed an inspection to assess the consequences of sending Leopard to Ukraine, and stressed that Germany needs to think about its army.

According to Pistorius, Berlin will continue to supply weapons to Kyiv, including Patriot air defense, IRIS-T air defense systems, Marder infantry fighting vehicles and Gepard ZSU, but could not give a time frame for a decision on the Leopard issue. Chancellor Olaf Scholz, as reported in the Süddeutsche Zeitung, announced his readiness to send Leopard 2 tanks to Kyiv if the United States supplied Abrams tanks to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and Vice Chancellor Robert Habek explained the lack of supplies from Germany with its history.
