A butcher in Hong Kong was fatally injured by a pig he was about to slaughter at a slaughterhouse. It is reported by CNN.
It was on Friday, January 20, on the eve of the very gloriously celebrated Chinese New Year, in which pork dishes were also used.
Police said a 61-year-old butcher working at the Sheung Shui slaughterhouse on the northern outskirts of the city had just knocked out a pig with a taser and was about to slaughter it. However, the animal regained consciousness and attacked the man.
A colleague reportedly found the butcher unconscious with an ax in his hand and a deep wound on his left leg. He was later taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police said the cause of death has not yet been determined. And the city’s Department of Labor said it has launched an investigation.
“The Ministry of Labor regrets the death of this person and extends our condolences to his family. We will complete the investigation as soon as possible to determine the cause of the incident, determine the responsibility of those involved in the incident and take necessary action.” If it turns out that there are violations of labor protection legislation, action will be taken.
