Blaming “invasion” of immigrants, Republicans are ready to investigate the Biden government

During the 2022 election campaigns, Republican candidates literally swept rhetoric about the “invasion” of immigrants on the border with MexicoBut now that they control the House of Representatives, members of the Oversight and Accountability Committee are being recruited to investigate the activities of the Joe Biden government.

Last August, immigrant advocacy organization America’s Voice released a report confirming that Republicans had “three main lines of attack: open borders, fentanyl and “invasion”.

The report is based on 360 advertisements that featured one of the alleged “open borders” Democrats.

“We identified over 330 dog whistle ads about drugs and immigration,” the report says. “And what’s more 140 ads using “invasion” and “replacement” rhetoric“.

Now, the formal move by Republican congressmen against the Biden administration was a letter sent to the Secretary of Homeland Security, Alejandro MajorcasPresident of this committee, Republican James Comer (Kentucky), which officially renounces the word “invasion” but warns that Americans “deserve an answer” for problems that have prevented border security.

“The committee is requesting documents and information to understand DHS policy. [Departamento de Seguridad Nacional]emergency action costs needed to respond to a worsening crisis and the national security risks posed by this policy,” the letter, sent on January 19, said.

The letter criticized President Biden’s “belated” visit to the border and how his policies “handed it over” to drug cartels and empowered smugglers.

Majorca Requirements

The committee makes several requests to Secretary of State Mallorcas about the border control investigation.

“[Se solicitan] all documents and communications containing any quantitative count of people illegally crossing the border [y que fueron] be released from Department of Homeland Security (DHS) custody effective January 20, 2021,” is the first requirement.

Also required are border control documents, measures to reduce illegal crossings of people and increase drug seizures.

In addition, the decision to end the Migrant Protection Protocols (MPP) program, better known as Stay in Mexico.

He seeks to learn actions before the increase in “illegal” border crossings and tools for the border guard, in the midst of name controversy 42.

The petition highlights attention to civil organizations that help immigrants.
“[Se solicitan] all documents and messages related to the use of non-governmental organizations to facilitate the release of people who illegally crossed the border,” requested.

Republicans are also trying to figure out how the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention and deportation manual acted based on the September 30, 2021 memorandum — a short time in place before the judicial blockade. will decide on this policy.

“[Entregar] all documents and communications containing any analysis conducted by ICE or any other component of DHS regarding the impact required by the September 30, 2021 memorandum.

Information is also requested on the reduction in the number of detentions and deportations by ICE.
The letter was copied to a senior Democrat on the committee, Jamie Ruskin (Maryland).

extremist positions

The week of February 6 is marked by possible hearings with Mallorcas, but before that he must agree with the committee to provide all the information requested.

Representative Lauren Bobert (Colorado) warned that there will be a “belt tightening” due to what is expected in connection with this investigation.

“Hearing @GOPoversight on the case invasion [sic] on our southern border. It’s time to sort out this mess,” wrote Bobert.

Vanessa Cardenas, chief executive of America’s Voice, questioned Bobert’s position.

“Brace yourselves, really. It looks like there are no rational votes in the Republican caucus in the House of Representatives to stop this madness,” he said. “Any committee that gives Marjorie Taylor Green, Lauren Bobert, Andy Biggs and Paul Gosar a mouthpiece to promote white nationalist immigration and border plots is a scapegoat hearing.”

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott used similar language about the U.S. “invasion” from Mexico.
