Italy, providing support to Kyiv, did not build a “front against Moscow.” This was stated by RAI 3 head of the Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto.
On January 18, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Rome had rapidly moved into the camp of leaders in actions against Moscow, which is surprising for the Russian side. Lavrov stressed that the position of Rome to a lesser extent reflects the interests of the people of Italy.
“Lavrov is right when he says that the Italian people are not the people who create barriers,” Crosetto said.
He added that Rome “did not build a front against Russia, but began to help Ukraine.”
“We had to judge the fact that happened: the state, the friendly state with which we cooperated, which accounted for 40% of our gas needs, unexpectedly committed an act that forced us … to help the state (Ukraine. – Approx. REN TV)“Guido Crosetto said.
He added that it was a “difficult choice” that continues to be so on a daily basis.
