More than a hundred people demanded that war criminals, top officials of Russia and Belarus be brought to justice. The diplomats were given a performance – “They put Russian high-ranking officials in a cage.”
On January 22, a rally was held outside the Russian embassy in Warsaw demanding the prosecution of Russian President Vladimir Putin and his ally Alexander Lukashenko. Video of the event was broadcast by Radio Liberty’s Belarusian service.
Participants in the action demanded that all war criminals be brought to justice, more than a hundred people came to the embassy. People held the white-red-white flags of Ukraine, Poland and Belarus.
Later, a demonstration was held near the Russian embassy. Four people were dressed in striped prisoner uniforms and placed in a cage. They were given masks showing the faces of Lukashenko, Putin, Russian Defense and Foreign Minister Sergei Shoigu and Sergei Lavrov.
“The International Criminal Court is not yet in a position to punish Putin, Lavrov and Lukashenko because they are the top officials of the aggressor countries,” one of the attendees said.
Recall that on January 19, the European Parliament voted to create a special tribunal for the top leadership of Russia and Belarus for a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Politicians remembered the persecution of the Russians in Bucha and Irpin in the Kyiv region, as well as in other Ukrainian cities.
According to Deutsche Welle experts, the special court is official and will not offend Putin. Officials noted that the Russian president has international immunity from foreign criminal jurisdiction.
On January 18, the State Duma of the Russian Federation announced an alternative proposal to take the former leaders of European countries, Angela Merkel and François Hollande, to court, as they agreed that the Minsk agreements gave Ukraine time to “strength”.
