Apparently, according to the police. About 20 minutes after the shooting, Huu Kang Tran also attempted to enter another dance hall in the Alhambra, 2 miles from Monterey Park.but was disarmed by two bystanders.
Monterey Park is a predominantly Asian community.
Five men and five women died at the scene of the shooting.This was stated by Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna. The wounded were taken to various hospitals, their condition is assessed as stable or critical.

Around noon this Sunday, in a Torrance parking lot, authorities found a white cargo van believed to be linked to the Monterey Park shooting and a suspect trying to break into the ballroom at the Alhambra.
The vehicle was surrounded by patrol cars and SWAT units, and moments after the ambush, officers reported hearing a gunshot. While checking the truck, Tran was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound inside his vehicle.
