Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Ankara could make a decision on Finland’s NATO membership that would “shock” Sweden. He announced this during a meeting with youth in the city of Bilecik.

“If necessary, we can give a different message (answer) about Finland. Sweden will be shocked when we give a different message about Finland”Erdogan clarified.

Earlier, on January 28, Sweden announced the suspension of the country’s accession to NATO due to the actions of activist Rasmus Paludan to burn the Koran. The activist promised to burn the holy book until Erdogan approves the country’s membership in the alliance.

On January 29, Swedish Foreign Minister Tobias Billström said that the accession process still did not stop, but the actions to burn the Koran were clearly complicated and postponed indefinitely.
