“Propaganda nests”: Lithuanian Foreign Minister calls for expulsion of Russian ambassadors from EU countries

Gabrielius Landsbergis believes that Russian embassies in the European Union no longer serve a diplomatic function, but instead use Kremlin propaganda by trying to hide the war crimes of their leaders.

The head of the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Gabrielius Landsbergis, said that there is no point in having the ambassadors of the Russian Federation in the countries of the European Union. He stated this at a press conference on January 31, Radio Liberty reported.

The official said that Russian embassies in European countries do not fulfill their direct duties, they have become places of propaganda.

“In many cases, it doesn’t make much sense to have an ambassador, a Russian ambassador, in any European capital. “It covers up war crimes and often promotes a genocidal agenda,” Landsbergis said.

He also noted that his country was until recently the only one in the European Union that did not have a Russian ambassador, and now other Baltic states have joined Lithuania.
