American journalist accuses US authorities of sabotaging Nord Stream

According to journalist Seymour Hersh, US officials began preparing a sabotage against Nord Stream long before Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine began. The White House has described such rumors as lies.

American journalist Seymour Hersh said that US authorities may have had a hand in the June 2022 explosions on Nord Stream pipelines. He wrote about it in an article on his website.

In the news, it is noted that US President Joe Biden decided to carry out the sabotage after more than 9 months of secret talks with the national security team.

“Biden’s decision to sabotage the pipelines came after more than nine months of secret debate within the Washington national security community about how best to achieve that goal. Often the question was not whether to do the task, but how to do it. It takes off and leaves no trace,” he said. writes Hersh.

Therefore, according to Hersh, US officials began preparing a sabotage against the Nord Streams long before Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine began.

Also, the journalist’s article shows that White House national security adviser Jack Sullivan was directly involved in the preparation of the Nord Stream explosions.

Hersh claims that the US Navy has offered to use the submarine to attack Nord Stream, and the Air Force has remote-fired bombs.

According to the journalist, the main reason for the sabotage was the White House’s fears that Germany would not want to provide military assistance to Ukraine to defeat the Russian aggressors.

“While Europe remains dependent on cheap gas pipelines, Washington feared that countries like Germany would not want to provide Ukraine with the money and weapons needed to defeat Russia,” the journalist wrote in his article.

Who is Seymour Hersh?

Seymour Myron Hersh is an American journalist, human rights activist, Pulitzer Prize winner, winner of the Media Foundation’s Award for Contribution to the Promotion of Free Press in Leipzig, winner of the Riedenau Prize (2005). In recent years he has worked for the New York Times at UPI and AP agencies – columnist for the weekly New Yorker.

He first came to prominence during the Vietnam War, when he reviewed the crimes committed by the US military in My Son.

In 2006, Hersh claimed that US authorities were preparing a nuclear attack on Iran and that Washington’s entire “violent” attitude towards Tehran was due to “Jewish money”.

In September 2013, he said the 2011 raid in which Osama bin Laden was eliminated was a “big lie”. He also accused the media that covered the death of the al-Qaeda leader of lying. He later claimed that he did not deny Osama bin Laden’s death, and all the lies began after his death.

On May 10, 2015, Hersh published an article about the “Assassination of Osama bin Laden” that drew criticism from reporters, academics, media watchers and officials. He was accused of manipulating facts and misleading the reader for the sake of popularity.

The journalist is also known for denying the use of chemical weapons by the Bashar Front regime in Syria.

Hersh is accused by critics of being a “conspiracy theorist”. In 2015, journalist Max Fischer said, “Hersh is getting more and more astray. His stories about big and dark conspiracies make surprising and controversial accusations, often with no evidence other than a few unnamed ‘officials’.”

The response of the US authorities

Later, the head of the White House National Security Council press service, Adrianne Watson, denied that the US Navy was involved in undermining Nord Stream 2. Reported by TASS.

“This is all a lie and a complete fiction,” Watson said.

Previously Focus Swedish prosecutor Mats Jungkvist, who is tasked with investigating incidents at pipelines in the Baltic Sea, reportedly said that the explosions on Russia’s Nord Stream gas pipelines in November 2022 were a planned sabotage.

It should be noted that the military intelligence of Great Britain also informed about a possible sabotage of the Russian gas pipelines. According to the agency, Russia could blow up Nord Streams using underwater drones, and explosives were delivered to strategic facilities a few months before the emergency.
