“Propaganda worked for the Germans”: Russian accounts found on TikTok with false information about Ukraine

For several months, the authors of the videos managed to attract 133,564 subscribers. They mostly recorded videos with an anti-Ukrainian agenda.

TikTok has exposed a network of Russian accounts that have been spreading disinformation about Ukraine to European countries since the start of the all-out war. Reported by Bloomberg.

This Russian propaganda started working last summer and reached more than one hundred thousand users all over Europe. He has worked in German, Italian and English respectively for residents mainly in Germany, Italy and the United Kingdom.

We’re talking about 1,700 accounts disguised as locals and spreading anti-Ukrainian narratives. Between July and September, 133,564 subscribers were withdrawn.

It is not yet known whether the network is linked to the Russian government, and the investigation itself was published in a report submitted to the EU Code of Practice to Combat Disinformation. According to the publication, the company itself did not respond to a request for comment.

It is worth noting that in Russia, TikTok limited its work on March 7 due to fake law. Users from this country will not be able to see new videos as well as live streams.

Recall that Russian propaganda “fighted” with Western tanks before arriving in Ukraine, announced on February 7 at the Center for Strategic Communications of the National Security and Defense Council. Propaganda began to spread the news that for a good monetary reward in the Russian Federation special “fighter teams” will be created to destroy Western tanks.

January 9 Focus He reported on what stages Putin’s propaganda went through during a large-scale war. The stages of Russian propaganda can be divided into at least five parts, and in each of them the Russians sought to publicize victories that never took place.
